About This Course
The AI Enabled Educator: Further Education is a Level 3 CPD course that introduces FE practitioners to the core concepts of AI, showing you how to apply them across curriculum design, classroom delivery and assessment. Through hands‑on exploration of AI tools, case studies and reflective activities, participants learn how to streamline planning, enhance learner engagement, differentiate more effectively and generate high‑quality formative and summative assessments. The course also foregrounds ethical, safe and responsible use of AI, supporting educators to meet organisational and regulatory expectations while modelling digital professionalism to students.
Who is this course for?
Teachers, tutors, teaching assistants (TAs).
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the course, learners will be able to:
Understand key AI concepts, capabilities and limitations, and describe how AI is currently being used in teaching, learning and assessment in FE.
Select and use appropriate AI tools to support planning, resource creation, differentiation and feedback, demonstrating improved efficiency and learner engagement.
Integrate AI into classroom practice using clear routines, guidance and safeguards that promote active learning rather than passive tool use.
Critically evaluate the ethical, legal and safeguarding implications of AI in education, and apply relevant policies (e.g. data protection, academic integrity, fair use, accessibility).
Design and implement lecturer‑led assessment and student self‑assessment activities that appropriately incorporate AI, while maintaining reliability, authenticity and transparency.
Reflect on personal practice, identify opportunities to develop AI‑enhanced pedagogy further, and contribute to AI policy and staff development within their organisation
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain what artificial intelligence is, distinguish common AI types used in FE, and describe realistic benefits and risks for teaching, learning and admin.
- Summarise your college’s expectations for safe, ethical, and policy‑aligned AI use, including core principles around transparency, privacy, bias and accountability.
Practical classroom application
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Use AI tools to plan and adapt lessons, generate resources, and support classroom activities across different FE subjects and levels, including SEND and EAL differentiation.
- Design and run AI‑supported classroom activities (individual, pair and group) that build students’ digital literacy, independence and engagement rather than replacing their thinking.
Assessment and feedback
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Integrate AI into formative assessment and feedback workflows (e.g. quizzes, draft feedback, real‑time responses) while maintaining professional judgement and academic integrity.
- Evaluate and select appropriate AI platforms for marking and self‑assessment in FE, using rubrics, pilot data and institutional guidance to ensure fairness, validity and workload savings.
Professional and ethical practice
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Communicate clear, practical AI‑use expectations to students (and colleagues where relevant), promoting responsible use, preventing misuse and supporting learners to self‑assess their work.
